The break-even formula (simple maths)
To know if buying once makes sense, compare what you would pay in subscriptions over the years you plan to use the software:
Months to break even = One-time price ÷ (Monthly subscription you avoid − Monthly hosting cost)
Example with made-up numbers (use real quotes for your own decision): say a subscription for your properties costs ₹1,500 a month, hosting costs ₹300 a month, and the one-time price is ₹36,000. You save ₹1,200 a month, so you break even after 30 months (2.5 years). Every month after that is savings. If you expect to run your PGs for five years or more, buying usually wins; if you are unsure whether you will still be in the business in a year, a subscription is safer.
